Peru Tour - "The Inca Empire" 

The name of the country may be derived from Birú, the name of a local ruler who lived near the Bay of San Miguel, Panama City, in the early 16th century. Spanish conquistadors, who arrived in 1522, believed this was the southernmost part of the New World. When Francisco Pizarro invaded the regions farther south, they came to be designated Birú or Perú.

Day One: Arrive Lima

Welcome to Lima! Upon arriving in Lima and after baggage collection, you will be picked up and taken to your hotel.

Our representative will give you a documentation kit with detailed program explanation. Luggage and hotel registration assistance will be offered.

Day Two: Lima

Early breakfast at the hotel.

Half day Colonial and Modern Lima with visit to Larco Museum.

Note: some of the visits are external view only

Visit the modern and colonial parts of the city of Lima the "City of Kings", beginning in the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro. Pass by a Huaca or sacred pre-Inca site. There will then be a stop at Parque del Amor (Lovers Park) in Miraflores for its magnificent view over the Pacific Ocean. The tour also includes the Historic Centre based on the Main Square, where the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop´s Palace, the Municipality of Lima and the Cathedral are located, as well as a visit to one of the largest colonial-era convents. Explore the Historical Center, then head towards the Larco Museum, which houses the incomparable Treasures of Ancient Peru private collection.

Spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day Three: Lima / Cusco

Check out of the hotel after breakfast and you are transferred to the airport to check in then board the flight to Cusco (airfare is extra).

On arrival at Cusco airport, you will be met, assisted with your luggage then transferred to the hotel. Spend the rest of the morning acclimatizing.

Half day Cusco city and ruins tour

This afternoon you will explore the city of Cusco, also known as the Imperial City and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here, you will start your tour at the iconic San Pedro market, local market where you can explore the colors, flavors and traditions of modern Cusco. You will then visit the Koricancha Temple, an ancient Inca palace and center of worship to the Sun God, on which the Dominican order built a church, which remains standing to this day. You will continue ascending to the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, an impressive example of Inca military architecture. Afterwards, you will visit other places of importance within the Inca culture, such as the archaeological site of Q'enko, where important Inca ceremonies took place. Finally, you will arrive at the Plaza de Armas (main square), where you will visit the Cathedral, the most important Catholic temple in the city. Return to the hotel after the tour.

Day Four: Cusco / Sacred Valley

Breakfast at hotel. Check out of the hotel after breakfast and you are taken on a full day Sacred Valley tour.

You will tour the Sacred Valley of the Incas, discovering its fascinating culture, surrounded by majestic mountains. You will visit a small and picturesque Andean town, where you will explore an important Inca archaeological site and learn about the local history. Afterwards, you will pause at a local restaurant for a delicious lunch. Then, you will continue to Ollantaytambo, one of the most representative architectural complexes of the Inca Empire and site of one of the Spanish Conquistadors' rare strategic defeats. Famous for its terraced fields, Ollantaytambo was a very effective fortress, that also served as a temple.

After the tour, continue to your hotel and check-in.

Day Five: Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu / Cusco

Check out of the hotel after breakfast and you transferred to the train station to board the train from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu. 

When you arrive, you will start the ascent to the ruins, which will without a doubt be one of your most unforgettable experiences. In Machu Picchu, your guide will show you the secrets of one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World, and you will also have time to explore on your own, relax and take some impressive photos.

At the agreed upon hour, you will descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch. Later this afternoon board the return train in Aguas Calientes, to Ollantantaytambo, and transfer back to Cusco.

Day Six: Cusco

Breakfast at hotel. Spend the day at leisure in Cusco.

Enjoy a unique experience filled with beautiful scenery, spectacular views, small communities, and opportunities to observe local wildlife. The Adventure awaits you! Don’t miss Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, Maras and Moray.

FULL DAY VINICUNCA RAINBOW MOUNTAIN (Shared tour) – (MINIMUM 2 PASSENGERS)

You will leave your hotel in Cusco early in the morning, crossing the South Valley, towards Cusipata. From there, you will be transferred to Phulawasipata where you will begin your walk. After some time to prepare, you will start with the ascending route to Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain. The place will amaze you with its vivid colors and natural beauty. There, you will have time to take photos and fill yourself with the energy of the place. At the end of this visit, you will walk back to the starting point. Finally, you will be taken back to your hotel in Cusco.

FULL DAY MARAS MORAY WITH LUNCH (Shared tour) – (MINIMUM 2 PASSENGERS)

Located Northwest of Cusco, we will visit the huge circular and semicircular agricultural terraces near Moray, built inside natural holes on a limestone plateau facing Urubamba Valley, and used as a botanical lab by the Incas. A cosmopolitan meaning has been suggested, but its function, besides de agricultural one, remains a mystery. Nearby, after that you will enjoy a panoramic view of Maras, where we find the salt mines on old terraces and lagoons. Lunch included.

Day Seven: Cusco / Puno

Breakfast at the hotel. Checkout of the hotel. You will be transferred to the bus station for your overland journey to Puno.

Enjoy the wonderful landscapes of the Southern Valley of Cusco on the way. First you will visit Andahuaylillas, where you will find the church of San Pedro, a beautiful 17th-century building that has an impressive organ, decorated with angels and cherubs. Then, you will visit the Raqchi ruins -also known as The Temple of God Wiracocha- which have different areas that were used for various purposes.

At the end of this visit, you will enjoy a delicious and typical lunch at a local restaurant. Then, you will head to La Raya, the highest point between Cusco and Andahuaylillas, where you will make a short stop to appreciate the landscape.

Afterwards, you will go to Pucará, where you will visit the town and the museum of this Inca military construction, which also functioned as an administrative center.

Finally, you will arrive at the bus station in Puno then continue to the hotel and check-in.

Day Eight: Puno

FULL DAY TITCACA LAKE: TAQUILE & UROS ISLAND (shared service – group tour – lunch included)

In the morning, we will make a one-day tour to Lake Titicaca and, as first stop, we will visit the floating islands of the Uros, also known as People of the Lake. These islands are built out of layers of totora and are used as housing and trade centers for the native Uros. They travel on handicrafted rafts. We will go on with our tour to Taquile Island, where the community greets tourists very kindly, and keep their old style traditions, customs and colorful clothings. The islanders are skilled craftspeople and express in each piece astonishing techiniques developed by their ancestors for centuries. Box Lunch is included.

Overnight: Sonesta Posada del inca Puno - Meal: Breakfast & lunch

Day Nine: Puno / Lima

Breakfast and check out. At the scheduled time, transfer to Juliaca airport to take flight back to Lima. Arrival and greeting at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
